More then any other time of year, I have cottage envy at the moment. Don’t get me wrong, I love my family cottage in St. Pierre de Wakefield and if I could spend weekends there on a whim I’d have no envy whatsoever. But the reality is I live 5.5 hours away, and that’s with good traffic, which makes it difficult to visit unless it’s a long weekend. Lately, I’ve been thinking it might be nice to set up roots in Muskoka, a rustic lake house where we could eventually retire. Nothing fancy, but most definitely on the water. They’re only dreams for now, but you never know.

I’m obsessed with this pretty Brooklyn pad. Last night, I dreamed I lived there and hosted a dinner party for girlfriends in the window-clad dining room. I’ve never lived alone (something I somewhat regret) but I’m pretty sure if I had my own space it would look a lot like this…

I spent last weekend in Chicago and had the most wonderful time. Like Toronto, Chicago has a lakefront that spans across the city, except it’s done a far better job with its urban planning. You won’t find an ugly beachfront here, or glass towers that look identical… Even the condos have an architectural touch to them!
For some culture, the Art Institute of Chicago is one of my favourite spots in the city. When the bf and I visited a few years back I was so excited to see Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks, and the infamous American Gothic by painter Grant Wood. But there’s so much more to see, it’s most definitely worth a visit!

I haven’t seen the Sun in a week, and today, like yesterday, is just another gloomy day. Days like these make me wish I had a fireplace to cuddle and stay warm by, but those are a rarity in Toronto homes it seems. I often dream of restoring my home’s fireplace, drawing inspiration from these gorgeous Scandinavian designs.

Have you peeked at the latest issue of Lonny Mag yet? I’m loving designer Lulu de Kwiatkowski’s home. I haven’t settled into a new place since I’ve returned from London so I’m on the lookout for room inspiration… and er, the perfect apartment!
