Je t’aime, Chicago.

I spent last weekend in Chicago and had the most wonderful time. Like Toronto, Chicago has a lakefront that spans across the city, except it’s done a far better job with its urban planning. You won’t find an ugly beachfront here, or glass towers that look identical… Even the condos have an architectural touch to them!

For some culture, the Art Institute of Chicago is one of my favourite spots in the city. When the bf and I visited a few years back I was so excited to see Edward Hopper’s Nighthawks, and the infamous American Gothic by painter Grant Wood. But there’s so much more to see, it’s most definitely worth a visit!

Le week-end:Pre-adventure PREP

I’ve been on an Oscar viewing frenzy this past week, seeing Zero Dark Thirty, Argo and Flight. I even caught a screening of the Oscar Live Action shorts last night at Tiff with my girlfriends. The shorts were fantastic; my vote is split between Curfew, Asad and Buzkashi Boys.  Today’s snow day is throwing a wrench in my plans, which means I’ll be running errands all day tomorrow. I’m in need of a larger suitcase to fit 5 weeks worth of clothes and travel items… It always amazes me how much stuff I use on a daily basis, and can’t live without!

A few things to share this week:
To&From Magazine shares a hundred-plus Valentine’s Day gift ideas for everyone on your list.

 Where does your job rank?

An adorable peptalk from Kid President.

A selection of the best Jane Austen quotes.

 Where do you fit in?

Have a great weekend! Txx

There goes January… And the good news is, according to Wiarton Willie we can expect an early Spring this year! February awaits and I’m eager to move forward, but before I do here’s a sneak peek into my January.

You’ll have to excuse the overload of factory photos – I’ve been consumed by work the last few weeks. I’ve seen some really neat machines and it’s just the beginning: I’ll be spending the next five weeks filming in the United States. It’s not the most glamorous of trips, but I’m anxious to meet all the incredible, hard-working people that make the foods we eat every day. I may have slow weeks here, but you can always follow my adventures on Instagram.

Happy Spring.

A few weeks ago I worked in the very pretty city of Caracas. The weather was a little dreary and it mostly rained, but I grew quite fond of the South American landscape and culture. The capitol is insulated by the Venezuelan mountain coastal range and is incredibly lush. It was the perfect start to Spring!
