A Warm Environment

I haven’t seen the Sun in a week, and today, like yesterday, is just another gloomy day. Days like these make me wish I had a fireplace to cuddle and stay warm by, but those are a rarity in Toronto homes it seems. I often dream of restoring my home’s fireplace, drawing inspiration from these gorgeous Scandinavian designs.

All-White Bedroom

I’m a big fan of neutral colours in bedrooms. Mine is painted in Benjamin Moore’s stone castle and is complemented with all-white bedding and dark wood furniture. I’ve got pops of green here in there – a large pillow and bedside plant to name a few. But I’ve yet to hang any art on the walls. I love the idea of mis-matched art above the bed, one big photograph or simple lighting.

Inspired by:wood for the home

The weekend brought cold rainy weather and apart from brunch and a few errands on Saturday, I spent most of it indoors. In retrospect, we could have easily rented a cabin up north and spent it reading by a fireplace. It’s one of my favourite things to do in life…

I spent some time daydreaming about future projects this weekend, and I’ve been inspired by the look of modern and rustic pieces together. My ideal home would combine the warmth of nature, the industrial quirks of modern day life, and a lived in look that is both personal and welcoming. I can see wood playing an integral part in the design. I’m currently toying with the idea of organizing my pantry items in beautiful matching jars like the ones below from Merchant no.4 - what do you think?
