As November is quickly waning the thought of a holiday some place warm is ever-so tempting. I’d love to spend a few weeks exploring volcanoes down south, be it in Nicaragua, El Salvador or Guatemala. Morning hikes followed by afternoon swims, with plenty of tacos and fresh fruit for sustenance. They’re only dreams at the moment, but even dreams can keep you warm as winter approaches. What’s your ideal holiday?

I’ve spent the last few days fussing over my garden’s progress… Weeding, planting, watering and just plain watching. Somehow, I must think that if I stare long enough I’ll see the flowers bloom or the grass grow! The only thing I’ve got left to organize is my herb garden, and I’m on the lookout for pretty herb markers to label each basket. Here are a few I’ve seen thus far…
Paulova’s five herb labels; Anthropologie vintage garden markers.
ceramic herb markers by Alluvial ; personalized garden markers via William-Sonoma.
Herb sowstick markers via William-Sonoma; Hand-painted herb markers by Courtney Wotherspoon*
*You can purchase Courtney’s pretty herb markers at this Saturday’s Toronto Flower Market, located at 99 Sudbury from 10am-3pm.
Love is in the air this week and I can’t help but be inspired by everything Valentine’s Day has to offer. You know, kisses, flowers, sweet treats, and declarations of amour… What’s not to love!?

I’m on the hunt for an area rug for our living room. Ideally, something with texture and colour. I’m quite fond of this Crate and Barrel shag rug, but not so fond of its price tag! In a perfect world I’d uncover an old persian rug and transform it with dye, similar to the last image shown below… But I suspect this dream may have to wait a while.

I haven’t seen the Sun in a week, and today, like yesterday, is just another gloomy day. Days like these make me wish I had a fireplace to cuddle and stay warm by, but those are a rarity in Toronto homes it seems. I often dream of restoring my home’s fireplace, drawing inspiration from these gorgeous Scandinavian designs.

I’m a big fan of neutral colours in bedrooms. Mine is painted in Benjamin Moore’s stone castle and is complemented with all-white bedding and dark wood furniture. I’ve got pops of green here in there – a large pillow and bedside plant to name a few. But I’ve yet to hang any art on the walls. I love the idea of mis-matched art above the bed, one big photograph or simple lighting.
